For centuries the Whitehall has been known for being fast, seaworthy and beautiful. It’s roots go back to the early 1800’s when these boats were the workboats of the busy harbors, ferrying captains, guests, businessmen and seamen to and from their schooners. Today’s modern mariner, with an interest in fitness and and a desire for an environmentally sound workout that is easy on the body and mind, will find that the Whitehall rowboat is again relevant. Our Maine Whitehall tender is an adaptation of a Whitehall that has been gracing Maine’s Harbors for many years. The lines were taken from an old, much loved and used rowboat.

There are plenty of dinghy’s at the dock, but not many are proper yacht tenders. Our tadpole Tender is.
Scaled down from our original 12’6” she has all the wonderful rowing attributes that a good Whitehall is known for making her a fabulous Whitehall tender. She tows particularly well, can rest aboard a swim platform, hang from davits or even stow away on a cabin top. There’s plenty of room for passengers and gear and still plenty of freeboard. What you will appreciate the most is what an absolute delight she is to row.

This is the handcrafted Maine whitehall we started with many years ago. This is the ideal boat for one or two rowers. She is seaworthy, a pleasure to row and is easily handled by one or two persons. It’s a fabulous boat for the lake or saltwater. She makes a great beach boat for the family cottage, and is also easily trailered if your adventures call for it.

For the traditional rower, our 15’ is an excellent choice. She is the perfect size boat for rowing on lakes, rivers and the ocean. This Whitehall handles rough water very well. She rows easily and the resulting glide from one stroke is both delightful and rewarding. In addition, the classic full-length keel keeps the Whitehall tracking straight while under way, a very useful characteristic for long-distance rowing.
